Deleting your Heirs account
You can delete your Heirs account at any time, in the app or by email. Deletion happens at once and cannot be undone: no one can bring the account back, not even our staff.
Delete in the app
- Open Heirs and go to The household.
- Tap Settings at the top of the screen.
- Under Account, tap Delete account.
- Read what goes and what is kept, enter your account's password and tap Delete forever.
The account is deleted the moment you confirm, and every device signed in to it is signed out. A wrong password deletes nothing. If you no longer know your password, use the email route below.
Delete by email
If you cannot use the app, write from the email address of your account to [PLACEHOLDER: support email address] with the subject “Delete my account”. [PLACEHOLDER: how we confirm that the request comes from the account holder, e.g. a confirmation reply from that address] We then delete the account in the same way as the app does and confirm it to you by email.
How long it takes
- In the app: immediately.
- By email: within [PLACEHOLDER: time frame, at most one month under Art. 12(3) GDPR] of your confirmed request.
- Backups: the nightly database backups are deleted after at most 37 days, so a copy of the account can remain there until then. Backups are used only to recover from a failure.
- Server logs: until their retention period ends, [PLACEHOLDER: retention period of server logs].
What goes
- Every house, and everyone in it — characters, buildings, research, quests and the house's timeline.
- The vault and every item in it, and an unrecovered buried chest with its heirlooms.
- All gold.
- House platin and bought platin. Both end with the account.
- Your email address, your password hash, your devices and sign-ins, your push addresses, notification choices and reminders, and your spending limit. We also have our purchase-verification provider, RevenueCat, delete its customer record of you.
- At the auction house: your houses' running listings are withdrawn and their items destroyed, without a refund of the listing fee. If another house holds the highest bid on such a listing, it gets its gold back. Your houses' highest bids on other houses' listings keep standing: if one of them wins, the seller is paid and the item is destroyed.
What is kept
- The purchase ledger, with no account attached
- Each purchase keeps only its transaction facts: store, product, transaction ID, amount, price, currency and refund state. The law requires us to keep these records for [PLACEHOLDER: statutory retention period for accounting records].
- Sign-in records, anonymized
- The account, the session and the device platform are removed from every entry; only the kind of event and its time remain. [PLACEHOLDER: retention of security-log entries]
- Server logs, until their retention period ends
- The request log holds the IP address and the browser or app identification of each request. It is deleted when its retention period ends: [PLACEHOLDER: retention period of server logs].
Also good to know:
- Auction records that other players took part in remain, with your house shown as departed and not linked to you.
- One entry records that an account was deleted. It names no one and holds only counts, such as the number of houses deleted and listings withdrawn.
- Backups remain for up to 37 days, as described above.
Coming changes. Two changes to what deletion keeps are planned:
- The sign-in log will record a shortened IP address (/24 for IPv4, /48 for IPv6) and the browser or operating-system family of each sign-in, kept for 90 days. Deleting your account wipes both at once.
- When our staff view or act on an account for support or moderation, a record of it is kept. These records stay after the account is deleted, with the reference to the account removed, and are deleted after [PLACEHOLDER: 1 year] (views) or [PLACEHOLDER: 7 years] (actions such as warnings, renames, bans or compensations).
In effect from: [PLACEHOLDER: date the changes take effect].
